Story of Nordberg
As the frosty winds of winter sweep across the rugged archipelago and inland wilderness of Nordberg, a uneasy calm falls over the landscape. After the intense clashes of the summer campaign, the major battles have ceased—for now. Beneath the blanket of snow, three makeshift supply depots have been established by civilians in remote locations. Each of these sites is unique in its layout and purpose, yet all share one secret purpose: they are connected to the towed backup power unit that was tested during the 2025 operation.
The once-dominant
Northern Iron Rule (NIR) remains a shadow-threat: no confirmed sightings of their full mobilisation have emerged, and while many believe the NIR is no longer as powerful as it was during the height of summer 2025, there is no guarantee it has been defeated. The bad news for the forces of Nordberg is that tensions between the
Coalition of Nordberg (CN) and the
Northern Royal Guard (NRG) remain thick in the icy air. Their rivalry, long simmering, shows no signs of thawing—and the situation is still volatile.
While the civilians continue their quiet work in the hinterlands, the factions watch, wait and prepare. The three civilian-run depots represent more than just logistics: they hint at a deeper strategic game underway, one rooted in the infrastructure of power and survival. Control of energy, and therefore of life itself, is quietly shifting under the winter surface.
Nordberg’s people hunker down through the long nights, keeping their eyes on the horizon. The war may have paused its thunderous roars for now, but the undercurrents of power, loyalty and ambition run deep. When spring comes, the embers of conflict promise to flare again. Until then, the story of Nordberg is one of stealth, preparation and the fragile hope that peace might one day bloom from the frozen ground.
Operation Clean Heaven 2025
While
NRG and
CN were constructing the Power Plant piece by piece together with the civilians, the
NIR 1st Special Forces Brigade detachment launched its own operation. They infiltrated the Nordberg State territory on foot, with vehicles, and by helicopters from across the neighboring border. Their objectives were straightforward: establish operational conditions, gather intelligence, sow chaos, and above all, rescue the Ragnar AI.
This military artificial intelligence, created during NIR’s peak years of power, had been forgotten in a secret NIR military bunker—until a random local happened to discover the cave and triggered an alarm, prompting NIR to initiate a rescue mission.
Meanwhile, as NIR carried out the phases of its operation, NRG, CN, and the civilians progressed far enough in building the Power Plant that it was able to start producing energy and, as a byproduct, Isotope. Further research revealed the substance to be impure, causing mild after-effects to those who handled it.
However, the Power Plant’s operation did not last long. The electrical converter delivered to the facility burned out, most likely due to a technical fault or excessive power demand. As a result, the battle to repair the converter in the village began.
But the situation was not that simple. NIR operatives, who had successfully extracted the Ragnar AI, were also hiding in the village forests. Their new objective was to infect Nordberg’s data networks with the AI—something that could be accomplished via the village’s new telecommunications panel.
NRG eventually detected the special forces, who fought to the end against overwhelming odds. All but one, who managed to escape with the AI…
Fighting intensified toward the end of the operation. In the photo, CN forces advance along the road leading to the civilian village.
